STORIES FROM THE FIELD: Thursday 10/9/25
Lolan Farm, Middleboro
What a great day on Lolan Farm. I was a little doubtful that I would actually get to set up and paint on site as the temps and the wind were a bit of a problem. No umbrella - too much winds… but found a great spot in bright sunlight and tucked away and shielded from the wind. So I set up in that spot and started the design and the block-in. As the afternoon progressed, the wind tamed down and the sunlight felt stronger - then I noticed I was hearing the magical sound of cows mooing from across the narrow country street. The owner told me I could go and visit the cows if I wanted, but I didnt want to take the time away from painting. I also discovered that Lolan sells "raw milk". Since I always wanted to try this, I decided to buy a half gallon after I packed up. I was amazed at how much I really loved the flavor of raw milk. Now I wish I could buy it all the time. I'm planning to go back to the farm and do some more work on the painting. I definitely want to visit the cows the next time.
